BAFTA TV Awards Announced: "Reindeer" Missed Out on Most Important Category

The BAFTA TV Awards were handed out at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday evening, May 11. The award for Best Limited Drama Series went not to the favourite "Reindeer" but to "Mr Bates vs. The Post Office". "Mr Loverman" was also successful.

As Deadline notes, the BAFTA TV awards were distributed equally to each of the favorite series. This does not change the fact that the creators of the series "Mr Bates vs. The Post Office" and "Mr Loverman" may be the happiest with the ceremony hosted by the host of the famous "The Traitors", Alan Cumming . The creators of the famous "Reindeer" were less happy. Especially since this Netflix production had the most nominations, and so far has already received, among others, Emmy and Golden Globe awards.

Despite this, "The Reindeer" had to concede superiority to "Mr. Bates" in the prestigious category of Best Dramatic Limited Series . "Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office" tells the true story of a disastrous miscarriage of justice, as a result of which hundreds of innocent managers and postmasters were accused of theft, fraud and false accounting.

"Reindeer" won an award for its star Jessica Gunning in the category of Best Supporting Actress. "Mr Bates vs. The Post Office" received a special mention, which went to the broadcaster ITV for commissioning such a production.

Two BAFTA TV statuettes were also awarded to the series "Mr Loverman". Both in the acting categories: Lennie James received the award for best leading actor, and Ariyon Bakare for best supporting actor. Best leading actress was Marisa Abela for her role in the series "The Industry".

The BAFTA TV award for best foreign series went to "Shogun". It beat out productions such as "Say Nothing" and the fourth season of "True Detective".
